What is Balatro

Balatro is a roguelike where the goal is to create progressively higher scoring poker hands with jokers, and consumables modifying the final score. There is no story, but there is a sassy mascot named Jimbo who berates you for losing. You play up to 5 cards and hope for the best, and when you win a blind you enter a shop which lets you buy jokers and consumables, and if you have the right voucher, playing cards to fix the deck. At the end of every ante is a boss blind that has an effect that can potentially break any runs if it’s not diverse enough, and the ante gets upped.

Experience

The play experience is kind of rough at first, even if you can infact beat the tutorial with pure luck like a friend has. If you fight a boss blind and it debuffs spades, and your deck is entirely spades, you’re likely to lose. But the strategy of it changes every run. Which in my experience, makes for a fun game. Highly recommended. That’s my quick review.
